Bred For Speed



I started this animation in Cinema 4D back in 2009, and posted some work-in-progress stills here and here. At the time I was working on using complex textures, and also I was a long way from anything human - I still am! but wanted to do some soft-body animation. It's been left on the shelf for the last year or two as I've taken on other projects mostly in Blender.

I've returned to C4D recently to complete and render the last few shots, using Blender just for the final edit. There's not really a plot except in the sense that a football match or any other sporting event has a plot.

I'm reminded that, while it's not free (far from it!) even the ancient edition of C4D that I've been using has a really intuitive interface (the opposite of Blender although things are improving steadily) and some powerful features. I have one or two more unfinished C4D projects on my hard drive - it's tempting to return to them too when I get the chance.

Nice. I've heard things about Blender, but since I don't use either I can't say. This must have taken forever.

Great animation, sci-fi. I could "feel" the speed, and the images are so vivid.

I thought this looked kind of amateurish, which I do realize it is a work in progress. I did not think that the action matched the music, and was kind of bored. Sorry!

@Anonymous - If you don't like it just close the tab and move on with your life.The author never claimed he was a pro in making animation , I think it's pretty good considering he's just doing it as a hobby and 4 fun and who knows , maybe some day he'll be the best.

@Anonymous: thanks for the feedback. I'm OK with it being amateurish as I am amateur and learning from each project - if I was starting this one again I would do a lot of things differently, particularly pacing.

@Dy: great to hear from you, thanks for your own comment and the sentiment is appreciated: but lets save it for the ones that are actually offensive, deal?

Very fun! I found myself rooting our snail friends on. I half-expected spikes to come out of the one fellow's shell. :)
